Totally new UM Rolling Contact Fatigue module v. 2

The updated UM Rolling Contact Fatigue (UM RCF) module of version 2.0 is included to the new UM 8.3 release.

What’s new?

+ The module supports the input data from the UM Loco/Wheel Profile Wear Evolution tool.

+ Enhanced algorithm of stresses calculation

+ Four new criteria are available for modelling: criterion of the amplitude of maximum shear stress, the Dang Van criterion, the Sines criterion and the combined criterion.

+ Three RCF curves for wheel steels with a hardness from 255 to 330 HB for each criterion are provided.

+ New possibility to take into account the residual stresses is added.

+ Two new sample files of the residual stresses are added in the UM library: the residual technological stresses and the mounting stresses, caused by the interference fit of the wheel rim on the wheel plate.

+ The option NOT to simulate the accumulation of RCF damage in the wheel flange is added.

+ The lubrication coefficient is now introduced.

+ Enhanced graphical engine including new imaging modes: accumulated RCF damage, equivalent stresses, residual stresses.

+ Advanced settings of visualization: line color and width of the wheel profile, FE mesh and isolines.

Also the updated User’s manual is included to the UM configuration and available for user after installation of the latest version of software.
